YARD WASTE DROP-OFF
Tuesdays, Thursdays - 8:00am to 3:00pm
2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month (April through October) - 9:00am to 12:00pm -
The Borough has expanded our Yard Waste Drop-Off program for resident. Yard waste is now accepted at the Borough’s composting facility Tuesday and Thursday 8am to 3pm. The compost facility is located at the rear entrance of the Borough’s wastewater treatment facility, 650 Erie Rd. The compost facility is only available to Borough residents and for yard waste generated in the Borough. Residents may be asked for ID to prove residency. Please follow signs for drop off location.

"Yard Waste" is defined as leaves, grass clippings, garden materials, shrub/hedge trimmings, weeds, and brush one inch or less in diameter. The yard waste drop-off and composting are the most environmentally and cost-effective method to collect and dispose of yard waste and leaves. After the material is composted, it is used as a soil enrichment and mulching for Borough use and is offered free to Borough residents.
- Large branch and loose brush drop-off service is only available during regular hours of operation. (8am to 3pm)
- Max size of limbs is six (6) inches in diameter and eight (8) feet in length.
- Loose (untied or un-baled) brush can be dropped off at this site; however, loads must be secured and/or covered while transporting loose materials to the drop-off site.
- NO tree stumps will be accepted.
- Garden waste, shrubbery trimmings, leaves, and grass clippings are accepted.
- No yard waste from commercial sources will be accepted.
- Dumping materials other than yard waste at yard waste locations is strictly forbidden and is considered illegal dumping.
- Only biodegradable paper bags can be left at compost facility. Plastic trash bags are considered illegal dumping.
- No dirt will be accepted.
CURBSIDE YARD WASTE PICK-UP
3rd week of the month on your scheduled trash day
Residents may place the following items on the side of their containers during Curbside Yard Waste Collection
- 2 bundles of branches - Must bundled and tied, no longer 48” and not heavier than 40 lbs.
- 3 brown bags of yard waste - Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, garden materials, shrub/hedge trimmings, weeds, and brush one inch or less in diameter
- Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted
Curbside Yard Waste will be collected in a separate Borough vehicle after completing the daily trash and recycling route. Then, it is taken down to the Borough's wastewater treatment facility to be composted.

FREE MULCH
Ever wonder what happens to all the yard waste, leaves, and Christmas trees you recycle with the Borough? They are turned into mulch and provided to residents free of charge! Mulch Giveaways take place during Yard Waste Drop-Offs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.
Here’s what you should know before you pick up:
- Proof of residency required - Mulch is only available to Borough residents and on a first-come, first-served basis
- Residents must supply their own vehicle, containers, and shovels to collect and transport the mulch
CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING
Christmas Tree Recycling will begin the Tuesday after Christmas (December 26th) on your scheduled collection day. Christmas Tree Recycling will run through Friday, January 19th, 2024. Please note trees will be collected in a separate vehicle after completing the daily trash and recycling route.
- Trees over 6ft tall must be cut down
- Trees must be free of all decorations including tinsel, ornaments, and lights
- Do not bag your trees, so they can be recycled properly
